Pros and Cons

Before getting into the details of Fastmail, here’s a quick look at its pros and cons:

Pros

✅ Masked Email: Using a unique email address as a substitute for your real email adds privacy when you sign up for online services and shops. Masked Emails are private, secure, and go to your Fastmail inbox.

Powerful Addresses: Reclaim your professional identity, productivity, and privacy with their additional email addresses. Protect yourself from tracking, data leaks, and spammers with alternative addresses.

✅ Easy Migration: Import your mail, calendar, and contacts with effective tools.

✅ Schedule Send: Schedule mail to send at the most convenient time.

✅ VIP Contacts: Choose your VIPs and get alerts when they email you.

✅ Dark Mode: Dark mode, a highly anticipated theme that reduces the light from your screen, expands to all corners of Fastmail.

✅ Smart Sidebar: View and search your Calendar, Contacts, and email attachments right in your inbox without having to change screens.

✅ Custom Color: Use Custom Themes to focus your attention and create order with color in your inbox and calendar.

✅ Undo Send: Undo Send lets you cancel a sent email if you’d like to take it back immediately.

✅ Folders & Labels: Organize and customize your inbox. Apply filters and rules.

✅ Snooze: Not all emails arrive when you’re ready. Hit Snooze to bring emails back to your inbox at a better time.

✅ Precise Search: Use the search builder to find what you are looking for quickly.

Cons

❌ Higher Pricing: A bit more expensive than many of its competitors.

Chat Support: A lack of live chat support.

Fastmail FAQs

While this isn’t a comprehensive list, it should help you make a more informed decision.

Yes, they do. You can find more information here: Fastmail Family Plan.

Yes, switching to Fastmail is simple and free. It’s easy to copy all of your existing mail, contacts, and calendar events from your old provider into your new Fastmail account.

Their migration tool makes it simple: just follow the instructions to log in to your old account, choose the data you want to import and click go. They will handle the rest.

Fastmail can even keep fetching new mail that arrives in your old inbox so you don’t have to worry about missing something after changing your email address.

You can find the video instruction here: Migrate In Minutes

With Fastmail, you can get an @fastmail.com address, but you can also just as easily set up email @yourdomain if you already own a personal domain name.

After logging in to your Fastmail account, you can add your domain by going to Settings → Domains, clicking Add or buy domain, and following the instructions. Again, we’ll step you through the changes you need to make at your registrar for everything to work.

With Fastmail, you’re not just limited to one domain either. You can add up to 100 domains to your account at no extra cost, so you can manage all of your email in one place.

Yes, you can. There are no restrictions on who can use the additional accounts on the Duo or Family plan, as long as they use them legally.

You will receive an automatic email notification if you get close to your storage quota limit. You should either delete some of your existing data to make room (and make sure you empty your trash to recover the space if you are deleting mail), or add email storage quota or upgrade your account.

Fastmail currently accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diner’s Club, and PayPal. Payments will appear on your bank statement as “FastMail Pty Ltd.”

They are unable to accept cash, checks, bank transfers, money orders, or cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.
